 About Raiders Youth Football
by posted 02/20/2011

What is the Connecticut Youth Football League (CTYFL) program?
CTYFL is a multi-town football/cheerleading league which play a normal 8 game schedule, 4 games at home and 4 games away. Practice schedules begin the week of August 1, with the first official game to be played on or around the first weekend in September. The CTYFL along with Raiders promote an instructional yet competitive atmosphere where all of the children learn the values of good character and teamwork. The Raiders are NOT a town team, they are a serious competitive travel team that can be made up of children from Simsbury, Granby and East Granby. We compete against towns like New Hartford, Canton, Bloomfield, Windsor and Glastonbury. Check out the league website at www.ctyfl.com

 Family Testimonial
“Our son played Raiders football for 7 years. It was a wonderful experience for our whole family! Our son made new friends, developed a solid foundation in the fundamentals of football and learned the “life lessons” of team work and discipline. The Raiders coaching philosophy played a key role in his success and smooth transition to Simsbury High School football. The game day fever is second to none; players chanting, parents cheering and seeing your child’s excitement when making a “BIG” play. You can’t beat it! Our son may have moved on, but the memories and great friendships that we made with the “Raider Family” will last the rest of our lives! “

"Our football family! That's what the Raiders are to us! Whether on the field, along the sidelines or in the stands, some lifelong friendships and memories have formed."

Raiders are the whole package.  Concerned fathers giving so much time and guidance.  Dedicated mothers keeping everyone organized and informed. And so many great kids working hard, making friends and notching life long memories playing the world’s greatest sport, football. Boys and their parents will ride the roller coaster through the season and when it’s over come the tears. This kind of earn it and love it endeavor is disappearing for our kids so enjoy it with the Raiders family as our family did.

Joseph Mulshine, Simsbury

We were “diehard Raiders fans” from the very beginning. From flag football all the way through Senior A, every season Raiders football gave us so much to cheer about. Coaches, players, families…we were all part of the team.  No parent could hope for a better youth football experience for a kid!

Martha & Rich Hogan, Simsbury

Raiders Football is a great experience for young athletes and is equally as “Fan”tastic for the athlete’s biggest “FAN”... the parents. Getting to know the other players and seeing your young man in uniform becomes a thrill you will look forward to each week. The camaraderie that developed between the parents of the team players has extended into many enjoyable evening gatherings. Go Raiders!    Phil and Patty DePasquale, Simsbury

"What started out as an opportunity for our son to learn the game of football turned into a family affair. My son played, I coached, and my wife, who originally was reluctant to have our son play, became a real football mom. We met some wonderful people who we still keep in touch with several years later. The kids loved the game which is evident by the fact that most of the kids my son played with as ten and eleven year olds continued to play in high school. They learned the game which is evident by the fact that many of them were significant contributors to their high school teams."

-----------------------------------------------------
Our son was a Raider for six years and took with him not only the football skills that prepared him to play at the high school level but the preparation and discipline he needed to be a good student and a great person. In the unsung-hero role of a lineman, he really developed an appreciation for giving his best in support of a team. The Raiders approach is to find a spot for anyone who is willing to give their all and this was such a rewarding experience for our son. Our whole family enjoyed this experience and we have made great friendships with other Raiders' families that we continue today. We miss those great Sunday games and can't say enough about this organization!
